Childhood obesity affects children ages six through eleven and is marked by an over 32% body fat percentage in girls and an over 25% body fat percentage in boys. There are many different causes of obesity in children – ranging from medical catalysts and genetic predisposition to poor lifestyle choices.
Child obesity is an ordinary extraordinary case. While it may seem that there are so many obese children out there, people still think that being obese is a disorder. Children as early as two to five years old are already experiencing obesity which is very dangerous to their health.
The prevalence of child obesity is more than a food issue, because this becomes a vital life issue. The lifestyle, emotions and family dilemmas play a big role. A cohesive effort from every member of the family is needed in dealing with an overweight child.
Causes Of Child Obesity
Children’s eating habits become established at an early age by parental influence or guidance, (even through lack of it). It can be much easier and quicker for the busy parent to order a take-away rather than prepare a meal of healthy food at home.
Lack of Exercise : Lack of regular exercise is a factor that has contributed to this being one of the causes of childhood obesity. Children who spend a lot of time watching TV programs will have a greater risk of child obesity than those who go outside playing or sporting.
