Tips To Fight Procrastination Problem

Tips To Fight Procrastination Problem

It is hard to find a person that has never need to deal with procrastination problem. It s so usual because most of us naturally hold over activities that we do not enjoy.

Sometimes, procrastination can be a tougher problem for you to overcome than others. There will come a day that you might go along smoothly and then you may not feel like leaving your bed. Although everybody has a awful day from time to time, it is a good idea to conquer a procrastinating mindset as well.

Consider following these Tips to fight procrastination:

Take small steps. If you are putting off beginning a big project, it might be because it looks like a huge job that will consume all of your time. Try beginning with ten minutes instead of looking forward to yourself to work for lots of hours on end. This would get you going on it and you will suddenly find out that it is easier to continue.

Give yourself a break. While you are sitting down for eight long hours to finish an overwhelming task, try to divide it up into small steps and give yourself a break once you complete one step.

How to Permanently Rid Yourself of Procrastination

How to Permanently Rid Yourself of Procrastination

Being successful in life is everyone’s goal. But most of us fail to avail the golden chances and opportunities, life presents us. The major reason behind this is we become victims of procrastination. Procrastination is a synonym for laziness. We get so lazy sometimes that we think that we have a long time to accomplish the task, knowing the task can take more time we assumed. Then we tend to do work in last moments and most of people fail to hold their patience and get tensed to that extent that they make situations worse or do the things in a wrong or ineffective manner. After that we mourn over our procrastination but now nothing can be restored. Thus, to emerge successful one needs to get rid of procrastination and this than be done in following manner:

First of all if you feel you are victim of procrastination you need to get organized. Get organized from today. The best way to start is with your room. Organize your room, your time, your life and your things. The sense of organization will bring stability in you and you will tend to stay organized, thus every time you see anything out of order, you will place it in a proper place. Slowly with passage of time you will imbibe a order in you, helping you to overcome your procrastination.

The next thing is to make a routine. Take your monthly planner with you and write down your short term as well as long term goals and also jot down ways to accomplish these tasks. Make a habit of doing the things as mentioned in your routine and make sure to mention even minor things like ironing of clothes in your routine. Though initially, you will find it hard to follow the routine but once if you started sticking to it, you will dwell the habit of doing things at specified period of time. This will help you in accomplishing your goals in a timely manner and thus you get rid of habit of not doing work on time. Drawing your future plans holds another advantage too. Earlier you had no work to do and could sit idle for hours but if you know what you need to do before hand, a pressure will always be there on you to do the things in timely manner, otherwise your other work will hamper.

Along with planning, managing your time in a productive manner always help you get rid of procrastination. You need to finish the tasks in the allotted time period and this organizes your lifestyle. Moreover, if you start managing your time well you will be always left with plenty of time at the end of day allowing you to carry other activities which was not feasible earlier due to your procrastination.

The most important aspect to get rid of your procrastination is to build just do it attitude. Always think it’s now or never whenever you feel like skipping the work or task that needs to be accomplished and you will always get rid of procrastination.

Procrastination: An Conflicting Way Of existence For large numbers Common people

Procrastination: An Conflicting Way Of existence For large numbers Common people

For several people, procrastination is not just a word, it is a manner of living. a lot men and women out there are up to their necks in damaged relationships, poor health, and economic stress, all of which can be credited to putting off their responsibilities.

But what exactly is procrastination? How do you comprehend whether or not you have a dispute with it? How does a person go about accepting whether the opposing experiences that are having in existence is the result of procrastinating?

First scrutinize at the word “procrastination”. It is created from the combination of the Latin words “pro” and “cras” which means “for tomorrow”. When a person procrastinates, they are making an accustomed decision to put off something that they have to do until several irresolute future time. They may decide to keep putting it off indefinitely or wait until the very last minute to begin the job. Either way, existence becomes nerve-racking because of these choices.

If you are a constituent of the procrastination clique, then you more than likely you have a big list of responsibilities that you have not gotten around to or at the very least have made it a character of beginning certain jobs and activities at the last minute, in which the damage is more likely already done. Procrastination is a bad situation for you if you have a regular ethos of convincing common people that “I’ll get to it later” or “I have too many to do now, and I will try to get to it next week”, etc.

Stop Unhealthy Procrastination

Stop Unhealthy Procrastination

Why do we procrastinate on getting in shape and eating healthy foods? What is holding us back? The obesity epidemic is in full swing, particularly in the US, and it shows little signs of slowing. What are we doing wrong?

To say that American’s don’t get enough exercise or eat right is oversimplifying the source of the problem, as true as that is. It’s time to look closer. What is it behind our inability to eat a healthy, balanced diet, and what is it that is keeping us from our exercise?

At first, we look at fast food chains. There is always a temptation to pass the blame off on something that is somewhat outside the realm of our control, such as the food available to those on the go. While this is a semi-legitimate argument, it is a bit of a cop-out, honestly.

Another common scapegoat is our work/school schedules. People are busy these days; that much is most certainly true. And yes, it is difficult to find and/or make time to get to the gym and consume reasonably healthy meals. However, again, this is not the true root of our problem.

Building Success Personality – Six Ways to Put Off Procrastination

Building Success Personality – Six Ways to Put Off Procrastination

Copyright (c) 2009 Khadijah Ibrahim

When I analysed people’s handwriting, the most common trait that I found in almost 70 per cent of the handwriting samples were procrastination trait. To me it is a big concern because when this trait is part of your habits, it is hard for you to achieve success.

The reason is that procrastination prevents you from doing things you are supposed to do whether it is something small or something very important. When you do not do the things that are supposed to be done you are actually taking one step backward, away from the success.

There were many reasons why people procrastinated e.g., they were not confident that they could do a good job or even simply because there was an instant gratification that allured them from doing the job such as watching their favourite show.

I hope that you should realise by now that usually procrastination or putting off doing the supposed to do things would lead to more harm and would jeopardize your opportunity for success.

There are many ways to put off procrastination and I am going to list down six most important ones.

Admit that you have a procrastination habit

The first thing you have to do to eliminate procrastination is to admit to yourself that you have this habit in you. When you admit to yourself that you like to put-off doing things, it would make the process of eliminating this habit easier.

You will not change or take the step to eliminate procrastination if you do not believe you have the habit even if all the people around you agree that you normally put off doing things a lot.

Make plan

Make a monthly followed by weekly and then daily plan of the things that need to be done.

The daily plan should be made at night before you go to sleep so that you could immediately start your tasks in the morning. Make a commitment to complete all the tasks scheduled, on time.

If the task is too big, chunk it into smaller achievable tasks. Always put the plan in front of you as a reminder of what needs to be completed.

Do the difficult task first

Some people said that doing the easy task first would make you motivated to do the difficult one later. There were also people who said that doing the difficult task first would make the other tasks that needed to be completed after that easier. I would have to agree with the latter.

The reason I agree with the latter is that if you put off the difficult task until the end of the day you may not have enough time or even energy to complete it on the same scheduled day. As a result you will have to reschedule this task to the next day meaning that you will disrupt the next day’s schedule. This is how procrastination begins.

When you plan to do something, do it and commit to complete the task within the specified time. If you find it difficult to complete the task by yourself maybe you should start to consider asking other people for help.

Ask help someone to monitor you

In the beginning you could ask someone close to you or someone you trust to monitor you on a daily basis to confirm that you have completed the task that has been planned. You could ask them to do it at the end of each day or at least every three days. Better yet have someone you respect to monitor you so that you would feel embarrassed if the task is not complete.

As mentioned earlier you could consider asking other people for help or assistance when you are not able to perform the task by yourself. Who knows there are possibilities that the people you ask for help could do a better job than you.

Review the plan

Every night before going to sleep review your plan to ensure all the tasks scheduled have been completed. If there are tasks that could not completed, put down the reason why and put the task into the next day plan or reschedule it to a more appropriate day. Think of an alternative way to complete the task.

Maybe the truth is that the task could not be completed in one day. Therefore you could start chunking the task into small achievable chunks that could be completed in one day.

Reward yourself after you achieve the goal

Reward yourself after achieving the goal is one of the most important things people normally forget to do. The reward does not have to be a big reward. Reward yourself with something you like to do or something you really want for example dinner at your favourite restaurant.

The reward will give you something to look forward to when you achieve your goal. The reward will be something like a catalyst or motivation for you to complete the goal on time.

However do not go overboard in rewarding yourself. There were people who rewarded themselves even before they completed their goal where they enjoyed the reward so much that in the end they did not achieve their goal.

With six ways to put-off procrastination being revealed in front of you, all you have to do now is take action. In no time you realise that procrastination habit that you have is the thing of the past.

The Top Ten Ways That You Can Kick Your Procrastination Habits

The Top Ten Ways That You Can Kick Your Procrastination Habits

A survey (by the University of Chicago) suggested that those who relish challenge are more likely to live up to 10 years longer than those who spend their lives inhibited by timidity.

Trying to realize our ambitions, even if we don’t always meet them, is preferable to not having the courage or motivation to take the risk. So not making any resolutions because we fear that we’ll break them is having a defeatist attitude, as we allow procrastination to become an insidious habit which stops us from leading more fulfilling lives.

The following offers 10 ways to kick the procrastination habit!

1. Personal values development.

Take the time to find out what you really want in life, what your personal values are. Do you want more time, more money, better health, greater self esteem and confidence, more fulfilling relationships, a different career, set up a business? When we procrastinate it’s often because what we are planning to do is not really aligned with what we truly want. We may be scared of our skills (or perceived lack of) or fear ridicule from others.

2. Make health and high energy levels a priority.

Without good health we are less likely to have the energy and dynamism needed to make positive changes in our lives and it’s easier (and necessary if you’re very ill) to procrastinate. So ensure that you have a nourishing diet, sleep well, exercise and meditate. Incidentally, it is thought that regular meditation helps delay the worst effects of the ageing process.

3. Visualize your life without procrastination.

Procrastinate Procrastination

Procrastinate Procrastination

How many times a day do you say the words “I’ll get around to it later,” or “let me just do this first?” If you are like most of us, yes including my self, chances are not a single day goes by with out procrastinating on something. The following message is so simple, yet so can be so hard sometimes to follow through on. After reading this passage it is my belief that you will become a little bit more motivated to procrastinate your procrastinating.

The reasoning behind doing any thing is simply to avoid pain or gain pleasure. Why did we wait to write that book report in grade school until the last minute? Because we did not gain pleasure out of writing, we preferred to watch television, or hang out with our friends or had rather of done thousands of things. We choose to do it on the very last night before it was do because we realized that we would face enough pain if we did not have the report to hand in the next day, so we would sacrifice that one day of pleasure to avoid the pain of a bad grade or a teacher or parent reprimanding us.

Now when we are at work and we have our list of things to do…why do we always do the easiest things first? Because they are the easiest, and no one wants to live a hard life right? Well the longer you put something off; the harder it will be to start later.

Have you ever wanted to tell that person that you are dating that you no longer wish to date them? Why do we think about telling them for days, weeks, and even months before we break things off? (check out my articles Relationships) Because it is comfortable and the thought of putting ourselves in that situation is uncomfortable. Remember we do things for two reasons, avoid pain or receive pleasure.

How do we change? Change what you link pain and pleasure to. Confused? First you must look at what it is that you know must be done – making that phone call, mowing the lawn, or going to one of my seminars. In the past you have found it more pleasurable to do what ever it was that you were doing instead of doing the aforementioned. Now you must think about what would happen if you don’t do what must be done now and what would happen if you keep putting this thing off.

People who procrastinate work just as many hours in the day as everyone else, and sometimes longer. But, they invest their time doing the wrong tasks. They end the day feeling discouraged or disappointed in the amount of work they finished.

There can be many reasons why people procrastinate:

• The task is unpleasant

• Fear of failure (or success)

• Poor time management skills

• You suffer from ‘Perfectionism’ – if it can’t be perfect, it shouldn’t be done.

Everyone can identify with a one or more of these reasons but procrastinators act on them daily. The two main motives that most relate to are: the task is unpleasant or overwhelming.
